Sonja explains things for idiots: Evolution by Panimated Sonja explains things for idiots: Evolution by Panimated
When I say "this is a person on the internet" I don't mean "this is EVERY person on the internet". It's one in a few, luckily...

I'm not going to be saying anything incredibly controversial, you've all heard it before. I've just been so annoyed at people who think they know so much better than everybody else, based on NOTHING. Mostly on youtube.
They should be thankful, and try to see how fantastic the processes of nature really are. I myself think nature is far more amazing than anything any human ever has come up with. AND I'm so happy we live in this age, where science actually enables us to see these intricate systems.
So naturally I do not appreciate when narrow-minded ignorants try to pull things back to where things were 2000 years ago. I like technology and how (relatively) stable our society is, and I would like to see it become even better before I die.

I'm sorry if you find anything in here offensive, but it's what I mean, and I mean every word.

I'm not going to answer to idiotic questions. If however someone has any verifiable, intelligent arguments, I might answer. But I really, really doubt it.
If you share my view, then great! Dare to let people know too, by dropping a comment.

Things like this is FAR from what I usually do, but from time to time I'm overwhelmed by inspiration to do something that actually comment society, instead of just entertain it.
In the future, when I'm done with the Shadowtainted, I want to make educational stuff, I think. Like educational entertainment, hopefully.
Also I can't really do much on Shadowtainted right now because I need to get the script for part 4 (which is finished) checked before continuing... :XD: erp. Also: school.

Oh, and this song goes great with this subject, I think: [link]

Okay bye now.

Haha! I try to explain this to so many people. (Well, I would if I wasn't shy) Why is it so hard for them to understand evolution? I don't mean to be disrespectful, I just don't get it. It's not that hard, and people could always believe in both. I believe in both, and I find evolution very interesting, not evil. I kind of think of God as the smartest scientist there is. We still have a lot of stuff to learn, and science doesn't explain everything, but it sure does explain quite a bit! Nod

Yeah, I see. I was too, actually, but we were not really practicing religious stuff very much. There's a lot of stuff in the "fire"-theory that's pretty wonderful though, as good as magical. Like galaxies. And dinosaurs! Religion never had enough dinosaurs for me :/ sadly, hehe

Oh um. Hi.

I would like to give you an example that you seem very wrong to me. Why? Lets talk logic, not YOU MUST BELIEVE THIS BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IN LOGIC THINK! I love logic. No theory, just pure, simple logic. All you are talking about is THEORY. Ok, now, I will begin.

Asker to scientist: Hello scientist! Show me some evidence of evolution. Anything! JUST SHOW ME SOMETHING!!!

Atheist Scientist: Well the human being (scientifically) looks like a monkey (or ape).

Asker: Wait! I have I cousin. And he does look like a monkey. But I don't think that the human being came from the monkey (or ape). And... even if they DID come from a monkey, and that you believe that there is no god, then WHERE DID THE MONKEY COME FROM?
Excuse me, I don't want to hurt your philosophy, but If its evolved; Something is here *quickly moves hand down to put some emphasis*, then it becomes better *moves hands quickly upwards*. Now, its not that thing anymore, now is it? Its that "new" one yes or no? And that becomes the next thing, and that becomes the next thing and so on, and according to the pictures they show you in the books (written by atheists), it shows you that this little creepy thing comes out of the water, then becomes a little small idonknowwhut, and later, it becomes like a little marmoset, and the marmoset becomes some sort of small monkey, and the small monkey becomes a bigger one, an ape of some kind, and then it becomes a chimpanzee lookin thing, and then a gorilla, and then this other gorilla thing, and then there is homo-sapien right there. Thats what they show yes or no? Ok even if we GO with this theory, of turning from monkeys to something else. WHY ARE THERE STILL MONKEYS??WHY??

Atheist Scientist: Oh

Those are some pretty big questions which I believe I am actually able to explain, so here we go;
firstly, unfortunately evolution has somehow got stuck with the label "theory", when the evidence for it is at least as great as for the "theory" of relativity, or the "theory" of gravity.
You say you love logic, and to me, evolution is actually the most logical explanation for how we got here than any other explanation. You just need to understand the underlying process, and the -honestly- unimaginable amount of time it has been at work.
Some people seem to think that evolution claims that a species "jumps" from one species to another. The truth is, it changes so painfully gradually, you would only see the difference between the species every 100-1000 generations (to put that in perspective; if you were to go back about 60 generations, you'd only be in ancient rome). An ape did not suddenly give birth to a human, that's a misconception.
I suggest you take some time off and try to really understand how tiny, gradual changes over a vast amount of time can heap up and make really big, amazing changes. I suggest Richard Dawkins' documentary "the blind watchmaker" (available on youtube: [link], see especially from (about) 11:30), it explains it very well. Or for a more in-depth, read his book "The Greatest Show On Earth". Really fascinating, and amazing, once it makes sense. And I'm sure it will, if you want to :)
I wish I could explain things in more depth, but I simply don't have the time. But before I stop, the question about why there are still monkeys, is really simple to understand...
You have to understand that monkeys are not "aiming at" becoming humans. It's not like if you waited a million years, all monkeys would have become humans. It's like asking: "If the first americans came from europe, why does europe still exist?" And also, humans did not evolve from chimps or gorillas, they evolved alongside each other, just like european society and american society does.
Hope any of this was helpful :)

Ok ok, Why did evolution get stuck with the label theory? Because there s not enough evidence to prove that it is fact, and no scientific experiments could be made to prove it right. We could look at fossils, we could look at genetic relationships, and what ever else that we could perceive as "evidence" right? I'm not saying that a monkey gave birth to a human, because that is impossible, nor that humans just came out of no where. You know, let us change subjects for a little while (to prove something). Lets look at a table. There is a notebook on that table. Who left the notebook there? Bob left that notebook on the table. Now lets look at the universe, in which monkeys and humans live on, hung in this empty space of nothingness. ENDLESS, ENDLESS NOTHINGNESS. How did the universe get here? A notebook cant thrust itself upon a table without someone putting it there right? Same thing with the universe, someone put it there, in the endless space nothing and darkness. Who is that someone? That is up to you. See? I dont talk science. I dont really care about science, other than the proved facts. I said before, I love pure SIMPLE logic. People like you, who don't have a god to turn to, nor a holy book filled with truth (and logical explanations about god), look to another book for help. A science book. Science did not create the universe, and science did not place it there. Same with monkeys and people. I believe that god created the universe, and made in in such a way, that it had plants and animals "by default", got rid of the harmful ones (aka, dinosaurs and the like), then created humans from a pair of male and female. Of course, you don't believe in god, you believe in your science textbook. Oh, and im not saying that I hate you coz you are an atheist. I like to attack problems, not people.

If you would like to educate yourself further about this topic, from my point of view, as it seems you like to read, here is a list of some downloadable PDF forms of books that expose gaps in the theory of evolution. But its your choice, if you want to educate yourself or not. Not mine. I don't want to chug down the truth and FACT down your throat if you do not wish to swallow it. I wish to end our discussion here, because I think it seems that you would think its pointless to have an argument with a 13 year old. And I will repeat that if you want to read those PDFs, its your choice. Thank you for reading! :D

I tried to keep it simple, short and logical for you, I'm sorry if you read that as me not wanting to talk to you. The way I see it, as for where humans came from, there is evidence for evolution (which makes sense), while there is little to none for any other theory on the subject.
I've heard a lot (and I do mean a lot) of arguments against evolution, and so far they've either been perfectly answerable (due to the questioner having some sort of misunderstanding) or totally irrelevant to the question.
You say you love logic, but you seem to fill the gaps with what it is you'd like to believe, which is not logic.
I'd like to look at those pdf's, where are they..? But if I do, I think you should educate yourself by reading a book on evolution, and try to understand it properly.

Thank you for making me want to learn more about evolution from your point of view. But im afraid you did not get your desired affect... Sorry.
So you agree with me that there are gaps in the theory of evolution?
" You say you love logic, but you seem to fill the gaps with what it is you'd like to believe, which is not logic."

Ahh you think I don't talk logic? Im sorry to say- you are saying that because you don't believe that god created the universe and all stuff in it, as I included, and explained in the most simple way in my previous comment with a notebook and a table. Or perhaps I should have done it with an atom of a speck of dust? Simplicity is your friend.

Oh and here is the link, I forgot to include it last time because my mother wanted me to get off my laptop :p

I meant gaps(or quesions), as the gaps in your knowledge in general, both evolution and history in general. Like "how did the dinosaurs go extinct", and you explain it with "god wiped them out"; which you don't really have any reason to believe, you just wish for it to be true.
Just as you read my arguments to mean what you wish them to mean.
You seem to be selectively logical. You say you like the simple logic, well, sometimes things are very complex, while when you fully understand it, it makes perfectly logical sense. Creation IS a simpler explanation than evolution, and it makes sense if you're in the mindset that everything is a grand scheme, which we have no reason to believe, really (it may seem sad, but is entirely possible). Just because it's simpler and makes sense to you personally, does not mean it's true.

Ok, and you seen to be selectively believing. You dont beleive that god exists, I do. God and my Religeon are my logic. Science is yours. We both have 100% different things which we believe lay out the fundamentals of our life and the universe. Mine is simple, yours is complex (and in my opinion, it is complex because it is a sad, desparate excuse for saying that god does not exist). And to each other, our points of view make no sense. And because they lay out the fundamentals of our life, we believe they are the truth. It would be like trying to split water molecules with a slice of fake american barf pizza. Impossible. I think that our argument will get us nowhere, so um. I believe it makes no difference that we argue not not. The only difference, is that we learn more about our separate beliefs and try to understand each other. Thanks.

Also, I would like to make it clear that I agree that there were HUMAN-LIKE creatures, but they are still animals. The difference between humans and animals is that humans have the CHOICE to submit to god or not. Not just some physiological things.

Thank you for this discussion. It was very fun and educational for me, and I hope it was the same way with you. The end :D

I just want to point out though that "The Atlas of Creation", one of the books on the page, has some errors. Among other statements, it claims there have been found 89 and 90 million year old skulls of tigers. That's simply not true, the oldest one so far has been only 2 million years old. And it says the same about many other animals, wolves, hyenas... Nowhere you can find another source claiming the same thing.
I'll let you be the judge of what that means.
Thanks for the discussion, and for keeping it civilized :)

I was baptised catholic, but I am open to all religions (I find them interesting, its neat to know what other people believe in) I believe you can choose what kind of afterlife you wan't, BUT I also believe in evolution, mainly because there is solid evidence, also, nothing just *poofs* and appears, even in today's society. look at technology, it took years to get to where we are with technology. I'm a 90's kid, so I know what it was like to have dial-up, and it's amazing to know how far we've come in just a few years.

A good way of looking at it!
Yeah, in some sense that's true, but to really evolve, the genetic code has to be altered and passed on. Which can only happen through mutations (I don't really have time to explain more, you could google it, it's interesting! :) ), but yeah, the fact that we learn is a good analogy :)

This is exellent! :D I don't get those people who say evolution doesn't exsist.. It's pure logic. I mean, really.. What do they think happened.. humans just started existing out of nowhere. I belive in god and i also belive in evolution. Altough im not a christian and i havent read the bible... I love sience. AND i also belive in god.. It's not impossible... but because of my love for sience, im starting to doubt if god really exists.. there are many reasons. I prefer to belive the big bang theory. Anyway, evolution is amazing. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for evolution.

This picture was hilarious, and I like the point you made about every species being a link to the next. What a cool way of looking at things! :)
I am a Catholic, but I whole-heartedly believe in evolution; in fact I'm fascinated by it (DINOSAURS 8D). I have no issues assimilating my faith with science. The Bible is a book whose morals are everlasting and essential, but whose stories are to be taken as guides, not literally. As for the science end, here's one way to look at it: who created those first teeny tiny micro-organsims, the very first presence of life? Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, though I can't stand when people use religion as an excuse to stay close minded against concepts they can't, or refuse to, understand.

Thank you very much! Thank Richard Dawkins for putting me on the though of the linking-thing. A very cool way to look at things indeed!
The bible does have a lot of moral and many clever and inspiring quotes, it's definitely worth reading, but as you said it's too bad some take it as an excuse to be narrowminded.
Science haven't answered everything yet, unfortunately. Then again that means there are still exciting areas to be explored! ^^

Oh, I know, the whole theory just opens its self up to so many possibilities and explanations. It just puts so much about ourselves as a species in perspective, and its so cool to hear about how every little detail of us is the way it is because of some specific need. There's literally logic behind everything: why we see the man in the moon, why we crave fatty foods. I could blab on forever, but I won't. See what your picture has done to me? D:

The only fact is that many people who despise evolution, pass it into people's brains and then they think it never existed and blah.
So yes, you did explain evolution correctly, except I highly don't believe we evolved from apes :S. We may have changed form a bit, but what ticks me off is when they said our past ape self evolved and began to love more, it's hard for me to explain. derp.
fff, people who don't believe it, just ignore them because no one has to believ in it :P
